FHD, Officially Launched

The Design History Foundation was officially launched at the Disseny Hub Barcelona, with a large public attendance which included museum professionals, academics, designers and design students. The keynote speech was delivered by Dr Viviana Narotzky, with the title History and Design: Back to the Future.

The project was co-ordinated by the Design History Foundation and curated by Raquel Pelta and Anna Calvera. They were responsible for the selection, dating and documenting of the pieces in the exhibition.

DHUB is a new centre run by the Barcelona Institute of Culture, to promote knowledge, understanding and appropriate use of the world of design. A space whose aim is to go beyond the concept of a traditional museum or an institution promoting the various disciplinary fields of design. DHUB is all that, and more.

Founded in Weimar the Gesellchaft für Designgeschichte

The Gesellschaft für Designgeschichte (The German Association for Design History), with official headquarters in the Haus am Horn, an experimental Bauhaus building, was founded in Weimar. At the act of foundation, Siegfried Gronert gave a communication on the purpose of design history.

Presentation of two books

Two books by the publishers Belloch-Santa & Cole, “La Barcelona del diseño” by Viviana Narotzky, and “Diseño y nostalgia. El consumo de la historia” by Isabel Campi, were presented at the FAD. Both authors are members of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

The Design History Society redesigns and improves its website.
